What About to Discuss:

Introduction

Back for another SEO adventure huh? Man do I love a hungry mind! You came to the right place. You’ve learned about SEO as a whole, you’ve gone through the stages of improving it, but to be as successful as you can in this domain, you have to study every single detail on its own. So without further ado, let’s continue with our journey and talk about a little friend of ours that we like to call keywords.

Before we jump into the bigger things, let’s understand the concept of keywords as a whole first.

What Are SEO Keywords?

Let’s say you want to search for a good shaving cream to buy, the typical thing to do is to search for it on Google right? So you open up Google and you type something related to the thing you’re searching for, which in this case is shaving cream. You’d write something like (best shaving cream, affordable shaving cream, shaving cream for men, etc…) this is exactly what keywords are.

They are the things that will make it easier for Google and its users to find you. That’s why having a good amount of ammunition for keywords is the first and most important step in your SEO strategy. It’s definitely worth the time and investment because it’s considered one of the best SEO on-page and off-page tools. But don’t let that double-edged sword fool you. If it was misused, it would do the opposite effect and be a curse instead of a blessing. But how much of them do I really need? When is it considered too much?

How Many Keywords Should I Use For SEO?

The world of SEO is a hugely competitive place to be. But to make the best of it, you have to be smart. Major companies can get away with only one keyword that their competitors would have to always use because their company is so huge there’s no running away from using words that links to them. But on the other hand, for small businesses to make it in the industry, they have to keep in mind that they should use SEO strategies that are made especially for a small business.

So the perfect thing to do here is to choose one primary keyword, then to shape it up and complement it with other keywords and build up around it. Rather than writing variations for the same keyword or keyword phrase, look for ones that are related to your content the most and use them as keys that will open up the doors to every possible angle in your topic to give the people all the information and answers they need while using the keywords.

I would recommend using three to four keywords for each page so you won’t be just stuffing them into your content. But that’s just talking in general. To be more specific, the amount of keywords depends on the length of your content.

And of course, don’t forget to spread out the usage of those keywords so your content sounds natural.

This brings us to our main question that is

How To Find Keywords

Got a pen and paper? Great! Now focus. The first thing you need to do is to determine what you’re writing about. Once you settle on a topic, you should start doing your keyword research because they don’t fall from the sky. Brainstorm for ideas, try to think as a searcher would.

An additional thing you can do is to search the keywords you’ve just came up with and use Google’s recommendations and see how people searched for the exact thing and what are the related topics or keywords that people also searched for.

To add more power to your game, you can discover what keywords people are using to find your website by using Google analytics or Google search console. Thus, you’d have a better idea of what direction to take and how to aim for the perfect keywords list that interests your readers and works like a magnet to bring more of them to you.

But here’s a word of advice you don’t hear that much often. Using the most popular keywords isn’t always as useful as it seems. To be overly competitive with others is a harmful thing to your business. So instead of focusing only on the highest volume keywords, try to use diversity and always keep your keywords varied, smart, well placed, and updated. Another unpopular yet very useful thing to do is to keep updating the keywords in your old content too.

This way, your content will always be out there as a whole, not just the new stuff. And don’t forget to keep the keyword analysis going, it’s your best SEO friend. But what’s the use of a great keyword if it was misplaced? That’s our next stop.

How To Put Keywords In The Right Places

Having the best keywords in your content isn’t enough. You have to make every keyword count by putting it in the right place. So, shall we discover what these right places are?

Or page titles. This is the very first thing a reader finds and his click is totally based on what he thinks of it. If you include the right keywords in there, the reader’s attention is definitely guaranteed.

This is what complements the hard work you’ve done on the title. If the reader saw what he was looking for in this description, he’ll jump right into your website. Make sure to keep this description clear and concise with a touch of catchiness just enough to get people interested.

These are the things that tell your visitors about the amount of relevance to what they’re searching for. Throw the right keywords in there then sit back and wait for the clicks to start raining.

A descriptive URL is a perfect tool you can use to tell Google and your visitors about the content of your website. The better it is, the higher your ranking will be. But keep in mind that it should be short with no more than one or two keywords.

It’s the alternative path for people to find your website. Even though images aren’t the first thing you think of when you’re searching for something, but they’re surely a thing that you can’t ignore. I mean in the end they’re indexed too.

And last but not least, to my final thought of the day, I’d like to introduce you to my RCSC theory that helps you get the best keywords possible in a summarized way.

What Makes A Good Keyword?

4 simple things I call RCSC (Relevance, Conversion value, Search volume, Competition). stick to them and you won’t regret it.

Your keywords should go hand in hand with what you have to offer for your target audience. Because at the end of the day, your main goal is to look for people who are looking for you right?

Choose keywords that are likely to lead to actual results and not just some normal curious browsing.

What’s the use of using words that no one cares about? Try to find words with the highest reach and popularity and use them to your advantage.

In a competitive world, thou shalt not be competitive, be realistic instead”. These are the words of a wise SEO monk whose name I can not read. But he has a solid point though. Instead of trying so hard you end up failing, try to target keywords that you can responsibly hope to rank at the top of SERP. Aiming for the jackpot isn’t always a good idea you know.

Another lesson that you’ve completed with great devotion. I’m proud of you! Make sure to keep tuning in so we can continue with our SEO journey together. And remember to always RCSC.
